Happy 4th of July

As I think about the 4th of July, it is usually a day of rushing around, trying to fit a million activities into about 12 hours. Does anyone else feel that way? We were pretty busy today, but managed to cut out a few things, and overall, had a great, relaxing holiday.

We started the day already pretty exhausted from our party the night before. Riley and Jake were up until about 11:30 p.m. We finally managed to get up and moving.  We had a 4th of July breakfast with our good friends and neighbors, the Lloyds, then headed up to Clinton for my nephews baptism. I had questioned getting baptized that day, but it actually was really neat when a member of the bishopric mentioned that the boys would always remember their baptism day, and know that Heavenly Father was having a celebration in their honor for making such a good decision.  We had lunch w/ Cory and Emily at their house after the baptism. We all headed back down to South Jordan to my parents house for an afternoon of swimming. This was the relaxing part. We just let the kids play w/ their cousins, and enjoyed being together.

Jacob is getting so brave in the pool. Tyler taught him to jump off the diving board. Oh my... he is too little for this!
All the cousins loved watching Cory light the "snakes" on the side of the pool.
Emily, Katelin, Grandma Price, Lily, Jamie, Chris
We hooked up w/ our friend the Beutlers later to watch fireworks at Jordan High School.
Happy Independence Day!!

Happy 3rd of July!!

Last year, Tyler and I decided to have a little 3rd of July party for our kids, so they could be up-close to all the fun. We invited a few friends, and it was so fun, that we decided to make it a tradition. So, this being the 2nd annual Sohm firework party, it was open-invitation. We had a bunch of neighbors come over, and it was yet again a success!

Lucky for Tyler, two of our neighbor boys were just as into lighting the fireworks as he was. Half-way through, they totally took over so Tyler could go enjoy the party and good food. Thanks Tate and Jaron! You're definately invited next year!
Here is a shot of about half the people. The kids had a ball. I think the glow sticks were a hit again. Note to self: buy more glow sticks next year!!
Cherolyn, Patty, and a few of the girls

The Coles, Sheri Moore, and Kris Ricord (yes Kris, I got you trying to hide behind Mylinda)

My favorite people at the party:  Mom and Dad, Abby and Jake. Thanks for hanging out w/ us! You're the best!

Thanks everyone for coming over! Hey, if anyone wants to drive up to Evanston and get some BIG fireworks for next year... I'll support ya!

I love to dance!

Abby has taken dance at my friends' studio, and had her dance recital on Saturday. She does ballet & tap, and got to do her tap number this time. The theme was "Disney through the years", hence the Hanna Montana costume. She had a ton of fun, and it was fun being a backstage mom for her class.

Here are the girls getting ready for their big debut on stage. They were being so giggly!

Abby w/ two of her best friends: Eva and Jane

Abby's teacher was standing off to the side of the stage behind the curtain, so the girls were watching sideways the whole time. Oh well, they are 5 years old. What do you expect? They were still so stinkin' cute!

Her favorite part was getting flowers from her daddy and brothers after the show.
Way to go Abs!! You were awesome!!

Gotta love Sunday afternoons

I love having 9:00 church. Sure, it may get a little tricky getting out the door on time, but I love having the day to do whatever. Riley and Abby said they wanted to go lay down after lunch today. OK. Fine with me! It was quiet in their room, so I went to check on them, and they decided to make a fort with their bunk bed, and have a sleepover. Awwww.... I just couldn't resist snapping a photo of my sleeping babies.

Soccer's over... for now

I guess I should be more specific... Riley's soccer is over for the Spring season. He starts again in the early fall, and Abby has her last game on Monday night. Riley loves soccer, and did really well this season. He is getting good, and loving the game! His coach is our neighbor, and almost the whole team lives by us as well. The games are fun because we get to be with our friends each Saturday during game time!

Getting a pep talk from Coach Greg
Way to go boys!! I think the real reason the kids play little league sports is to get a treat at the end of the game. The trophy is a nice touch as well!

Soccer fans!

Abby's soccer team went to the Real Salt Lake game on Saturday night. She was so excited to go all week, especially since Tyler offered to be one of the chaperones. There were a couple of girls that didn't go, so they let Riley come with the girls. They have really been into soccer lately. I can't believe that we haven't been to any of they Real games yet. It was a late game, so I made the kids take a nap earlier in the day. They cheered the whole time, and had a ball.
Ok, so the girls don't look too enthused in this picture, but they promised that they had such a fun time!
Their favorite part was seeing the fireworks, and David Archuleta in concert after the game. They thought it was so cool seeing an "American Idol."
I wish I could have gone, but I was really just happy to have some "Mommy & Jakey" time all to ourselves. I will get to a game one of these days...

Tuesday trama

I just couldn't resist posting the latest, especially since it happened to me, and more specifically, because it hurts really, really bad...

I was pulling the garbage cans around back this evening, and since our backyard looks like a war-zone right now, I was being extra careful not to fall over anything. Well, I was being careful until I stepped right on a nail which was sticking out of the fence that is laying on the ground. (Did I say white trash?). Anyway, it didn't really hurt, and it wasn't bleeding. I called Tyler and told him, and he suggested that I go get a Tetnus shot at Instacare. I don't think I have had one since my mission, so I thought, "what the heck, we've met our deductible this year, might as well." I actually enjoyed my time to myself; mindless reading of magazines, and soaking my foot in warm, bubbly water. Then, the Dr. came in and started squeezing my heel, and gave me a shot in my shoulder. Did you know that Tetnus shots hurt? Um, ya, they do. It already hurts. I am not looking forward to tomorrow when the pain is supposed to set in. Also, my foot is throbbing now from all the extra attention. Hopefully I will be able to walk tomorrow, as well as move my arm. I should have just stayed home.
